Group Gardening

About a third of the garden area is devoted to a group gardening. (The other two thirds are split between individual garden plots and fruit trees, berry patches, ornamental gardens, and grapes.)

The front garden is a circular garden that was originally a parking lot. Its geometry derives from a centrally located sprinkler that makes irrigation in Oregon’s dry summers easy. Its six sectors are dedicated to different crops each year. Its perimeter areas are dedicated to ornamental, rain and wetland habitat, and additional vegetable gardening.

Greenhouse packed with starts

Greenhouse Packed with spring starts

The group gardens team manages a small greenhouse used for growing starts in the spring and drying produce in the summer and fall.

About half of our residents, and a few neighbors, participate in the group gardens. Each year we get together to plant and harvest. Work parties occur about every three weeks. It is great fun sharing gardening with our neighbors!

Meditation

Treehouse Meditation Collective

This is an inclusive mindfulness group that welcomes folks from all
religious, non-religious, and diverse backgrounds. We gather right at
2pm, and then we do two twenty-five minute periods of silent
meditation with a short walking period in between. Then, only if you
want, feel free to hang out for some tea, cookies and conversation for
the next hour. Any experience level is welcome, from very beginners
to the most advanced. It’s open to the fresh air and bird calls, so
bring warm clothes, a meditation cushion, and anything else to make

yourself comfortable. We also have chairs!
